The inaugural Blokart marathon, run by the southeast Queensland Blokart club on Saturday, 14 November at Woodgate beach attracted 33 competitors from all Queensland club in the eight divisions.
The 2 ½ hour timed event, run on an 8 kilometres course in 15-18 knot winds saw performance class competitors hitting speeds in the high 70’s on the run downwind into the first of the two course markers. The lead lap performance class finishers covered 115 kilometres with the lead production karts covering 72 kilometres.

With the prestigious inaugural club team’s trophy up for grabs, the Whitsunday Blokart club team of Bryn Wooding (production), Dave Moore (performance), Phil Wells (performance) and Club President Miles Wood (performance) excelled in the trying conditions to take out the top prize, a beautiful perpetual trophy. Strong performances by Miles, second overall and first in performance heavy division, Phil with a fine third place in the same division and Bryn first production kart to finish and first in the lightweight production division saw our local team the envy of all clubs at the Saturday night gala dinner and awards presentation. By winning the team scored event with 2.6 points and the host southeast Queensland club second with 2.7 points, with the Capricornia club in third with 3.1 points.
