Have some questions first?

You may find your answers here in our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) or on our Blokarting page, but if not, click/tap the ‘Contact Us’ button and just ask!

What is the cost of membership?

The cost of membership is $50 per annum.  This affordable fee helps support club activities, events, and basic operational costs throughout the year.

Do I need to have my own blokart?

We encourage new enthusiasts to experience the thrill of Blokart sailing before making a purchase. The club has a Blokart available for newcomers to try out up to three times as prospective members. This gives you a chance to learn the basics and determine if the sport is right for you.

After these initial sessions, we invite you to become a full member and invest in your own Blokart. This approach ensures our club equipment remains available for introducing new people to the sport while supporting those who are genuinely interested in becoming part of our Blokart community.

How/where can I buy a blokart?

Both new and used Blokarts are available in Queensland. For new models and accessories, you can contact our local dealer, Dave Moore, at 0413 009 242.

Used Blokarts offer excellent value and can be found through Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree, or through our club network. Many of our members began with pre-owned karts and can offer advice on what to look for when purchasing second-hand.

Feel free to ask club members for recommendations during your introductory sessions – we’re always happy to help newcomers find the right equipment to get started.

Where and when does the club meet?

We typically sail every fortnight, with specific dates determined by favorable tides. We have four excellent sailing locations (Conway Beach, Bowen Foreshore, Ball Bay, and Cape Hillsborough), and the wind direction on the day determines which venue offers the best conditions.

We use our Whitsunday Blokart WhatsApp group to communicate the latest information about upcoming sailing days and location details. New members are added to this group to stay informed about all club activities.

What skill level is required?

Blokarting is accessible to beginners of various ages and physical abilities. No sailing or wind sport experience is necessary to get started.

Our members are always ready to help newcomers learn the basics of safety, control, and technique. Most people can get comfortable with the fundamentals after just a few sessions.

Is blokarting physically demanding?

While Blokarting doesn’t require exceptional strength, it does involve some physical engagement, particularly when getting in and out of the kart and controlling the sail in stronger winds.

However the sport is accessible to a wide range of fitness and mobility levels. Many of our members are well into their retirement years and enjoy the sport regularly.

Introducing President Miles Wood (aka ‘Milo’)

Our club founder and current president, Miles, has been Blokart performance land sailing since April 2019, when he purchased his first used kart. He attended his first event at the annual Mid-Winter Bash in Mulumbin where he fell in love with the camaraderie and close one-design racing. Since then, he has become a regular on the Queensland club racing circuit.

His first international regatta was at the world cathedral of land sailing, Lake Ivanpah in the USA-recognised as the holy grail of land sailing venues. There, Miles scored his first international title with a first-place finish in the Performance Heavyweight Division. Miles also competed in the annual Southeast Queensland 2.5-hour Marathon in Woodgate, taking line honours with an emphatic 5-kilometer lead over second place in the all-in regatta.  He attended the 2025 Australian Titles and came home with the 2025 Middleweight Title, winning the final six races on day four of the four-day event.

The ‘Blokart grin’ is a big part of his life after several decades of racing Hobie cats, windsurfers, and yachts.  Miles enjoys sharing his knowledge, so if you have a question, just ask!
